Nick's Birthday

Nick's birthday landed on President's Day this year. That was lucky for him because then everybody was off work. We start the day out with a bang and went to see Spiderwick Chronicles. The kids liked the movie. We then came home and Nick opened his presents. He got two movies Spiderman 3 and The Great Outdoors. He was also lucky in that he got a 3rd remote for the WII. We then went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. This is one of our favorite places to eat. Right off Lucas let the waiter know it was Nick's birthday. Nick was all "Thanks Bud" and rolled his eyes. They make the birthday boy sit on a saddle while they yell.
Nick chickened out and really didn't want to do this. So he was very glad the waiter saw how relunctant he was and pretended to forget what Lucas said. Of course Lucas was sad because someone else was haveing a birthday and he wanted them to celebrate Nicks. After we went for ice cream at The District. Michelle and her family met us to close out our day of parting.
Happy Birthday Nick!

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day was the best day at school. The kids were so excited they were up and ready for Nick's parents to pick them up 20 minutes early. Barbara went with Lucas to his class were they made a craft. Sadly I deleted the pictures off the camera so you are seeing are seeing a reinactment of this big even. Lucas loved every minute and Barbara said this is one of their mos favorite things to do.

I actually kept the pictures of Meg and Byran. So these are in the moment pictures. Meg was so excited to have Grandpa come. Together they made this frame and Meg drew a picture of her and her grandparents in it. When all was done the grandparents got to take home these prizes and I did see them being displayed proudly for everyone to see when we were down there over the weekend. This was an amazing day for the kids and one they won't ever forget.

WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA AND GRANDPA!

Meg's Book Report

Meg had do do a book report for school on a Beehive Book Award.
She chose "The Secret Scienc Project That Ate The School"
It was such a hit. When she got to school all the kids gathered
around her to see the slim oozing out of the school house.
Nick helped her make a school house. He helped cut
it out of the cardboard then Megan painted it.

He also made a girl out of wire and tape and then Meg
painted that to look like the girl in the book. Added to the
slim we made by getting a recipe off the internet it was one
of the best. To top it off she had to wright why she recommended
this book. In her description she wrote it had lots of onomatapoeia
words. That is words used to describe a noise. Her teacher was so
excited she gave her a thumbs up and said YEAH!

Family Skate Night

We had family night at Classic Skating. It was pretty fun. I didn't know we could bring the kid's scooters for them to ride so we had to get them at the rink. The kids were pretty excited to go. I was excite to try my new rollerblades I got for Christmas.

Nick debated on if he even wanted to participate. He said he was a terrible skater growing up. He finally decided he would try rollerblading.

The scooters were so beat up we decided to trade them for skates. Megan didn't want to try rollerblades. She didn't like them as much. She found it very hard to balance on them and said next time she will bring her scooter.

Lucas opted for rollerblades. It was pretty tough work on him since he didn't even try to balance. Nick or I would hold him up while his legs just slid in every direction. Despite all of that I forgot how much I enjoyed roller skating when I was younger and I am looking forward to using my rollerblades more when the weather permits. It was a fun start to family week at Butterfield Canyon Elementary and look forward to Grandparents Day!

Winter Storm Warning

Today we got a little snow in Herriman. It was a very small 2 feet. They even cancelled church meeting because the building was snowed in. Yeah! for Super Bowl Sunday. Go Giants!!! The kids let me take their picture but that was all they wanted to do. Meg could barely get turned around to look at the camera.

Luckily for Nick our neighbor down the street blowed our driveway. He only had do to the sidewalk. He would have been out there all day. This is his I love winter face. He was so glad he got to shovel something.
